Supermad 2013

1 May

With £500 prize money plus many goodies, Brixton CC Super Madison starts 12.30pm Sunday 23 June 2013.
Along for the party will be the wonderful crew from Brixton Cycles shop. The shop is celebrating its 30th year this year. And a special cleat off between Poole Wheelers and Brixton sprint teams.

Naturally, Supermad takes place at Herne Hill Velodrome Burbage Road SE24; it celebrates the legendary Rob Jefferies and pays homage to big Ron Beckett.

The day’s racing highlights include Rob’s Super Madison Trophy Race, and the all new style Ron Beckett Mixed* Double Harness Madison Pursuit.

Spreading the love for y’all to compete, the new Ron Becket offers a Gentlemans Gran Prix style two-up pursuit. But it’s one for the ladies. So seniors team up with your dream girl racer now!
Any one for doubles? And we repeat the same format for youth A and B invite Madison.

Get in early; register now

* Teams of 2 – mixed doubles minimum 1 rider is a woman, vet or local track league B/C cat rider.

Photo report coming v soon

25 Jun

Despite the damp start Supermad 2012 was a raging success: we aim to post a photo report on Tuesday 26 June.

We know that many of the riders are keen to relive their exploits: according to resident snapper (should that be snapper in residence?) Gordon P, the pictures look ‘ fantastic’.

More tomorrow and thanks to all who made it such a great meet.

2.30: Optimism trumps rain

24 Jun

As a strong westerly wind blew away grey clouds and driving rain riders took to the tarmac and racing began.
Half an hour earlier prospects looked bleak but the crowd kept the faith.
Mercifully, Rollapaluzza’s gazebo offered a thrill-filled haven as riders took to the rollers to battle it out.
