Need we say more?
Amongst the riders newly signed up for Supermad 2013 is Luca Lupo of Team 99 Milano.
We’re not sure where Luca is in this picture, but we’re thrilled that he’s joining us on 23 June.
Adding to an already impressive field, riders have just registered for Supermad 2013 from Ireland and Italy.
From Ireland Liam Collins, Autumn Collins and Philip Ryan are signed up, and some big names seem likely to follow; we’ll bring you the news of the riders as it happens.
Herne Hill has Madison fever. And we like to think Brixton CC kick started this back in 2009 when it featured a Madison in its race programme.
The Madison now features in loads more Herne Hill meets and training sessions. The Brixton meet has had a few changes since but remains a very individual meet. This year’s Supermad is committed to giving women riders equity in the prize money.
The lovely folk at Friends of Herne Hill have put up £100 for the women’s Kierin alone. Thank you.
We have special bags of sweeties for riders, free track bike services, goodies galore, a cycle jumble, beer tent and our own club chefs frying up hot chicken. And of course all set to a backdrop of Rob’s favourite tunes.
Rob Jefferies remains a big presence for the Supermad meet. We are committed to remembering this outstanding cyclist and all round good bloke.
Ask Rob about his best moments in cycling and he would say either winning his first national medal – Keirin 1993 – or winning the West Thames 20K. A certain Mr Wiggins was second.
Now his daughter Eve has thrown herself into track cycling. No pressure then but she got Dad and bro’ to match up to.
In 1998 son George was bagging national medals with Gold in the U16 500m TT and Bronze in the 2km pursuit and sprint.
The meet pays homage to the lovely Ron Beckett. One of Rob’s and our favourite track judges and all round kind man. We miss you both.
Brixton Super Madison takes place on 23 June 2013; the action starts at 12.30pm.
